Description:

The 32-Hour Supported Scaffold Supervisor Course is required by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) for individuals supervising the installation, removal, or modification of supported scaffolds over 40 feet in height. This comprehensive training provides supervisors with the critical knowledge and skills needed to oversee supported scaffold operations safely and in full compliance with NYC Construction Codes and OSHA regulations.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations, participants will learn about scaffold design, inspection procedures, fall protection systems, site safety requirements, and the responsibilities of a competent person. The course emphasizes the identification of scaffold hazards, proper erection and dismantling techniques, and best practices for protecting workers and the public.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a NYC worker wallet card and certificate of completion, recognized by the NYC DOB to meet licensing and compliance requirements for supported scaffold supervision.

Prerequisites: 

  • Participants must provide a valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Participants must be able to understand and communicate in the language in which the course is conducted.
  • No formal educational background is required, but basic reading, writing, and math skills are recommended.
  • Students should have some prior construction experience or familiarity with scaffold operations to maximize the value of the training.

Course Materials: 

This course consists of several different components including a PowerPoint presentation, lecture, case studies, class discussions and hands on demonstrations. We will provide a student manual which will include all relevant written standards
